The invention of typing correction fluid is credited to the mother of former
Monkee Mike Nesmith. She named the product Liquid Paper, and in 1979 she sold
the rights to the Gillette Company for millions.
Just a bit of useless information I found interesting. Is it any wonder then, that he never did a reunion with the rest of the Monkees?

Sedentary Saturday!
I finally had a Saturday that I could stay in and play at my messy desk(s). With the exception of a Graduation party Saturday evening, I was able to spend the whole day playing with paper and wire.
I finished the wire basket...all in sterling by the way...booku bucks for just sitting around looking pretty...so I am posting a picture of the final product.
I also finally got to work on thank you cards for all the wunnerful peeps who gave me presents. This project was tops on the list...I'm almost two months late! Aargh!
Then I got to make some samples for MardiArt over in Hilo using BoBunny's Forever Fall papers. Here's some pics:
Tomorrow it's back to work and since we've got re-runs on TV now, looks like I won't be distracted and can work on new projects! YaY!

Using Darcie's rubber stamps
I made a couple of rubber stamped cards using Darcie's rubber stamps and Deb decided she wanted one for her wall instead of a card. So, here's something similar to the card, but bigger and more monsters! Finished size including the "mat" is 8x10.
Additional stamps used: Stampin' Up Pennant Parade, don't remember where the buttons came from, Copic pens. |

Progress report
I'm making tea stained tags for everyone in the Lynne Merchant class. I'm near completion of basket number two!
Drying tea tags |
Going to package them up for everyone in class. |
Aughh!! I busted one tourmaline when spiraling one of the coils. Will have to get another one. |
After that, I can oxidize and clean it up. I made a loop in the middle with one of the spokes so I can wear it as a pendant. |

Taking classes at The Bead Gallery with Lynne Merchant (thank you for the invite Jamie!). Half way done...two more classes to go. We started weaving baskets last week Friday and made rings on Sunday. This week Friday we finish up the last half of the basket class and on Sunday, it's spiral day.
Here's some of the pieces I've worked on so far!!! Yay!!!

I love my job. Today I went out to pick up mail from the Kaaawa Post Office and here's what I found!
Happy Children's Day (May 5)!! |
Thanks Kualoa Ranch for the best display of koi I've seen to date! Happy Boy's Day! |
Just to give perspective, the largest koi is bigger than the tree! |

Today's itinerary included a trip out to Asakusa. Yay! Shopping is always fun there! We did get cleansed and bought omamori at the Sensoji Temple. The best part was that some Sakura trees were in bloom! Double yay!! On our way back to Shinjuku, we decided to take a detour back to Ueno and Ameyoko-cho to see what we weren't able to the day before. Had a slight altercation with the JR Service Rep in the Ueno Station who didn't want to let us out of his office. But it's okay. We got out of there and made it back to the hotel. Whew!

It was a beautiful morning so all the bedding came out |

Camellia or Peony? I'm not sure. |
Not sure what kind of citrus tree, but the newly opened Tokyo SkyTree is in the background. |

I happened to be sitting when it was time for the maintenance workers to come out |
This Sakura tree happened to be behind the fence. |
But who can read the sign anyway? I got a branch to pose for me anyway. |
My namesake: Ume |

Griller |
Check out all the stuff you can choose from to grill. I took the Top Shell. |

Down this street there are figures like this on the buildings. If you don't look up, you'll miss it. |
But I really wanted a picture of the guy with the Pampered Poodle. |
While most folks don't have large yards here, they do plant in pots most beautifully. |

Ueno Station, where were almost trapped. |
